Shop Hop Winners
There were some very happy WAQA members last Sunday at the prize draw for the Shop Hop. Congratulations to Gail on winning the sewing machine, Karrina winning the Accuquilt Go! and Alda winning the chair.
The Metro Week kicked off with an Opening Event hosted by Kennedy’s Creative Sewing Centre where all attendees were treated to a lovely morning tea and given a little bag.
Then it was on to do some shopping. I started a little slow with only hopping into four shops that day managing to find something at each shop that I needed. I upped the travel the next day and managed to get to six more shops covering north and south of the river. I did not get to the cocktail party due to other commitments but heard members had a great night. Then wanting to get all stamps possible, I went to one shop on the Saturday and ended up at the closing ceremony on the Sunday, with another lovely morning tea on offer before the raffle was drawn.
The Shop Hop is not only about raffle prizes, (although there were 35 given out plus 2 lucky door prizes), it is about having fun, doing some shopping, supporting WAQA’s sponsors and catching up or running into other quilters. I managed to do all of that as well as getting the maximum 100 points. You only need 76 to be in the draw for the first prize and the odds of winning are pretty good - just ask Gail.
A big thanks to Leonè for organising this amazing event, her helpers that shopped for the prizes and our sponsors that put in extra effort to make the Shop Hop such a success. See you all next year!
