Bus Trip to Quilt Exhibition in Bunbury

Saturday was a great day for a Bus Trip to Bunbury to see some quilts. A number of WAQA members boarded the bus in Innaloo with the remainder hopping on in Riverton and the lucky last one picked up at the pitstop near Mandurah. A stop was made for morning tea (where else but at a quilt shop) on the outskirts of Bunbury, before heading into Bunbury and arriving at the Bunbur Regional Art Gallery.

The Art Gallery had a number of interesting exhibitions including Oblivion and Iluka Visions 2021. There were some powerful pieces in the Iluka Visions exhibition, which is the annual High School Exhibition that showcases the talent and creativity of Year 12 Students from across the South West. The Bus remained at the Art Gallery, as it was a short walk to the Bunbury Museum & Heritage Centre. Some members took advantage of the cafes along the way to have a relaxing lunch, while others decided to get in some shoe shopping.

The Australia Wide Seven exhibit at the end of the walk was well worth the trip, with 40 unique small quilts to view up close. The diversity of quiltmaking practices was impressive and provided something for everyone to admire.
