Visit by VP to Beginners' Group
At the Beginners’ Group on Monday, the WAQA Vice President, Anne Trigg, dropped in for a visit. Visitors are always welcome but especially when they bring treats for everyone. Thanks for the lollies, laughter and interest!!
As with every session at Beginners, there is always plenty going on: cutting, pinning, sewing, pressing and repeat.
The focus of the day was sashing and borders, as many of the members doing the ‘Back to Basics’ project over the past few months had completed their blocks and were keen to put them together.
There was a lot of time spent auditioning fabric for sashing, set in squares and borders. The floor got a lot of use, particularly by Cheryl who had made additional blocks in order to make a bigger quilt.
There was a quite a bit of maths involved as well, in calculating the number of strips and squares required. Then the all important question ‘did I buy enough fabric?’
Two weeks until the Beginners Group meets again, so plenty of time to go shopping, if needed
