Highlights from the AGM
56 members and 6 visitors attended the WAQA Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday night 5th October at the Alexander Park Craft House. Guest speaker for the evening was Paula Beck on behalf of her mother Pat Goodchild.
The talk was full of wonderful stories about Pat’s quilting journey and the quilts that were on display or held up for attendees to view. The display of quilts all around the hall was impressive, with the larger ones literally hanging off the stands. There was so much colour, and it was great to be able to see the work up close, not just in a book or on screen (some were made for a movie!!).
Following the presentation, the official part of the evening took place, with the draft minutes of the AGM now uploaded to the website and available to all WAQA members. The new Management Committee was elected with all 12 positions filled and the new General Committee was also appointed after a couple of nominations from the floor. By the end of the month the handover of positions should be complete and both committees ready to take on the challenges of the coming WAQA year.
