Busy Busy Busy at the CQ Busy Bee
Sunday was another great day for Community Quilts at the monthly Busy Bee. There were 25 members in attendance including three who came for the first time. There was a lot of donated fabric to sort with the boxes ending up full to overflowing. Time was spent preparing the boxes for the CQ sale that will be held at the September Sewing Day and Night. Other members went ahead with their normal activities of selecting some donated finished blocks, adding some matching fabric and then piecing together quilt tops to an appropriate size.
A number of the ladies took on the task of sorting through donated wadding pieces and cutting them up into the required size for making the Christmas placemats. Thanks to the generosity of Nicola and Val in loaning two specially designed templates, the job of cutting wadding was made much easier. A few other ladies were roped into sewing together the smaller pieces of wadding. Thanks to all the time and effort, almost 300 wadding pieces are ready for handing out at the September Sewing Day and Night.
As usual following the break for lunch, there was the show and tell of completed quilts, with plenty of amazing quilts on show. Some of the members recognized the initial donated blocks, whilst others identified their contributions through adding borders, doing the quilting, or attaching the binding. The quilts are just wonderful and the variety of styles, size and colour are ideal for distribution to the many organisations supported by Community Quilts.
