SEPTEMBER BLOCK OF THE MONTH-
AUGUST BLOCK OF THE MONTH- Almost a Chain Link
This is a very easy block if you lay out your pieces before starting to sew.
1.Cut 4 different green 2 1/2 “strips into each:1x 2 ½”, 1×4 ½”,1×6 1/2” pieces .
2 Cut white 2 1/2 “ strip into 4x 2 ½’ , 4x 4 ½ “ pieces.
3. Layout as per pattern in a pleasing colourway. Replace after each step.
4 . sew 2 ½” white to 2 ½” green. Press towards dark.
5. sew green 4 ½” strip to the side of step #4. Repeat for all 4 blocks .
6.sew 4 ½” white strip to side of 4 ½ “ green. Repeat for all.
7.sew 6 ½” strip to the top of the block (look carefully at layout as it will be a different green fabric).
8. Sew blocks into pairs and then join pairs.
Your finished block will be 12 ½’x 12 ½”. We will add another 2 ½” white border before joining the
JULY BLOCK OF THE MONTH EYE SPY
All seams are one quarter inch.
Take a patterned 6.5 x 4.5 eye spy piece and add a 1.5 x 6.5 plain piece on both long sides of
the eye spy piece.
Do that to 4 eye spy pieces.
Arrange 2 of the small blocks so that you have the plain strips on one block horizontal and
one other vertical and sew them together on the vertical strip. Do the same for the other
Then join the two halves together with the 6.5 x 1.5 plain pieces meeting in the centre of
The finished block will be 12 .5 inches square
Please do not trim the finished block
