The first CQ Busy Bee of the year was held last Sunday at Alexander Park Craft House. Even though it was in the middle of the long weekend, 30 ladies came along to make it a resounding success. There were some ladies new to the group as well as others that had not been for awhile, all adding to the buzz in the room.
Backings were selected for completed quilt tops, bindings were sewn on, blocks were pieced together, sashing & borders were added to bring tops up to size, donated fabric was sorted, wadding was cut up, quilts were pinned, fabric was cut, with the CQ’s Accuquilt Go put to use and there was even some quilting of sandwiched items. Everyone found something to do, whilst chatting and catching up with friends or getting to know the new members.
We had a hand sewing area setup as there were bags of quilts for the Wooloroo Fire Quilt Drive needing WAQA labels. I was very impressed to see them all done by the end of the day. Well done ladies!!
Some lovely treats were provided for morning tea, and there was plenty of time to enjoy the show and tell after lunch. It was great to hear how many members worked in different ways on the same quilt. I was so pleased to see included in the quilts displayed was one where last year I had selected a bunch of blocks out of the UFOs and added the sashing and border, then left it for a more talented quilter to quilt.
The next CQ Busy Bee is on 30th May 10am – 3pm at APCH. I look forward to seeing you there. Feel free to contact me at email@example.com if you have any queries.
