My Friday was filled with so much inspiration. I headed off to my first Contemporary group meeting and it was fantastic. I wondered if this group would get through everything by 2.30pm!!
Their special guest was the very talented WAQA teacher Kerry Moore, who introduced us into the wonderful world of hand stitching, who knew there were so many different ways of attaching thread, ribbon, or wool to a piece of fabric. Kerry also had lots of her work on show and gave us lots of helpful hints and tips, as well as many ways that you can recycle what is in your stash and make the most of what you have.
Show and Tell was AMAZING! A few of the ladies had been to the Australian Quilt convention in Melbourne and had attended classes whilst there. Lesley Clugston was so excited as she had taken part in a raffle and was the winner of a gold class ticket to the show. She said she was treated like a Queen the whole time she was there and also had the opportunity to take part in a class or two.
Lesley pictured below and also part of her quilt that she made in a Joe Cunningham class.
Marilyn showed us the beginnings of her Lion quilt, with skills she had learnt in a Susan Carlson class at AQC.
More quilts on show from Jillian Travis/Jo Cunningham classes.
A gentleman called Ross also attends Contemporary group, this is one talented man!! He showed us some coats he had been working on and had also made a few hats from a previous wool felt demonstration.
I look forward to attending again, and it was great to meet people that I had only previously “met” via email contact. I came home feeling very inspired and keen to start some new projects! Remember all of our small groups will also be a part of our open night on June 5th at the Stirling Adriatic Centre at 7pm, with special guest Lisa Walton.

Phil talking about the CQG Letter challenge. These small quilts will be on show at Quiltwest.
