Cailtin, was the winner of the WAQA FibreWest scholarship, and we share a little bit about her here, thank you Caitlin.
Growing up around quilts and quilters, I couldn’t help but be drawn to fabric and thread. I entered WAQA’s Quiltwest in 1992 and 2000 in the junior category. Since then I have continued to quilt and to create fibre art works with free-motion stitching. Luckily my sewing machine is (mostly) very forgiving – I really enjoy playing with stitch, layers and shadow and seeing what interesting materials i can sew with.
I am very excited to be going to FibresWest and would like to thank WAQA and the committee for this opportunity. I currently live in the wheatbelt town of Narrogin and am most looking forward to getting to Muresk in July and being surrounded by like-minded textile lovers for a whole week of stitching!!
