Community Quilts- BOM

If you were fortunate enough to attend WAQA January sewing day and night, you may have seen a beautiful array of blocks and quilts.

Block of the Month first began in 2013.  Each month a block is demonstrated at Sewing Day/Evening. Members select from prepared fabrics which they take home to make the blocks.  Once returned these blocks are joined together to form the quilt; and other members volunteer to quilt it.  These quilts are added to the donated quilts which are provided for patients and residents of a wide range of medical and community based organisations.

In the past five years,  30 different blocks have been used, and pictured are some of these quilts,  Fabrics for these blocks come from the stash of donated fabrics stored at Alexander Park Craft House.  Many of the quilts are made from scraps

All instructions and all the blocks can be found here.

What are you waiting for, dive right in and begin…………. or if you you would like to become involved in any capacity,  Gail would be more than happy to talk to you.
