A relaxing retreat at Shoalwater

It was perfect weather for our retreat, every year our outgoing committee and the new incoming committee take the opportunity to head to Shoalwater, which is an outer southern suburb of Perth.

Shoalwater is an outer southern suburb of Perth and is located in the City of Rockingham.  Shoalwater is located within the Shoalwater Islands Marine Park,  which includes Shoalwater Bay, Warnbro Sound, Cape Peron and also includes the small islands of Penguin and Seal Island.  Like it’s name suggests, there are many shallow waters in the area.

Our weekend retreat is held at the  St.John of God retreat centre, where we are always welcomed and well looked after.  We are able to sew in a very big space and we also have access to some smaller meeting rooms.

In between networking and  planning for the year ahead, lots of sewing, chatting and laughter were shared amongst us all, and as you know with all retreats, there was plenty of food and maybe a drink or two! … well it was the weekend!!

Our hostesses,  Charmian, Susan and Pauline  taught us to make a very cute and easy to make ‘bag caddy’ and show and tell is always a wonderful opportunity to see what everyone has been making.

Whilst not all of the old and the new committee could make this retreat, it was  wonderful that most of us could come together in the beautiful surroundings of Shoalwater.

A small selection of our Show & Tell quilts with many and varied techniques being showcased.
