Tis the season….. to attend lots of events!!

A little further information regarding the Eco Echo has just come to light, please scroll down to the bottom of this blog post for a an update.

If you are sewing and quilting like a mad woman or maybe even beginning the task of making things for Christmas then take a breather and go and be extra inspired by the many events that may be happening in your neck of the world!

Upcoming Exhibitions and Events

  1. 23 – 27 November, 2017, Eco Fashion Week Australia (EFWA)

This event is not just about high fashion, it’s about giving back and involving the community in sustainable activities! There are a number of events to be held in conjunction with it throughout Perth.

*EFWA Eco Fashion Runway show (Victoria Hall, Fremantle)– not just a fashion show, but a performance featuring music, dance, audience makeovers and much more….(tickets available online, $15 from each ticket purchased donated to Sea Shepherd Australia and Rainforest Rescue)

*EFWA Textile Art Exhibition (Victoria Hall, Fremantle) – solo show of selected works from ‘Deforestation Series’ by Marie Mitchell, viewing in the bar area during Eco Fashion Runway show.

*EFWA Eco Seminar, Disposable Planet (Curtin University) – free event, register online, 25 November

*EFWA Eco Workshops – How To? (Taylors Art and Coffee House) – free event, register online – recycling, upcycling and sustainable skills workshops 23 – 26 November (Marie Mitchell is offering 2 workshops as are other volunteers artists and designers)

*EFWA Designer Pop UP Shop (Reloved RSPCA Shop, 177 High Street, Fremantle) – fashion designer runway samples will be sold from 20th – 28th November, to raise funds for RSPCA WA

  1. 17 December. 2017 – 15 February, 2018, ‘Threading the Landscape’, Dwellingup Forest Heritage Centre

The Extensions 12 present a range of contemporary two & three dimensional textile and mixed media works in the gallery and gift shop, interpreting the charm of town of Dwellingup, its water catchment areas, beautiful jarrah forests and surrounds.

Exhibition Opening Sunday 17 December, 2017 1 – 3 pm

(CQG members Marie Mitchell, Rachel Lang, Janine, Roberta Chandler and Liz Humphries will have work in this exhibition)

A little further information that has just been passed on to me:

The Fibrant Group presents   ECO ECHO  at the Midland Junction Arts Centre , 
2 – 14 December, 201710 am – 4 pm (Closed Mondays) 
16 textile and fibre artists,(at least 8 are Wafta members) have contemplated our throw away society and responded in the spirit of renewal in varied and innovative ways.
