The WAQA Contemporary quilt group had the pleasure of hosting Raelene Vinciullo and Wendy Myles of the Embroiderers’ Guild of WA at their October Meeting.
Raelene began by giving us an insight into the history of beads and how they have been made out of almost every material through the ages.
Later Raelene showed us hand beading techniques used in embroidery, whilst Wendy demonstrated beading using a domestic sewing machine. Members were able to have a go at both methods and also take a kit to try at home. We are very much looking forward to our next Show and Tell, where we are hoping lots of “bling” will be incorporated into our projects.
Our thanks to Raelene and Wendy, it’s always great to learn new techniques!
